Common Rail Concept

The basic idea behind the control design is to achieve greater atomization than previous injection pump systems to optimize the auto-ignition process of the mixture formed in the chamber when diesel is injected, which is the fundamental principle of diesel circulation. To this end, much smaller orifices are arranged radially at the tip of the injector (nozzle) to compensate for this smaller passage section with higher pressure.

It is essentially the same as multi-point injection in gasoline engines, where all injectors also share a common passage; the difference is that in diesel engines, they operate at higher pressures.
